We are rapidly approaching the bafflingly cool upcoming 2017 installment of Pickathon in Oregon (Dinosaur Jr., Charles Bradley, and Drive-By Truckers sharing stages with Big Thief, Alex Cameron, and Aldous Harding??), so, naturally, now is an absolutely swell opportunity to take a second pass at one of the first Slab Sessions culled from last year’s fest—featuring Thao & the Get Down Stay Down.

The first time around, we were treated to a gritty version of “Departure,” from 2016’s A Man Alive, and now we’re getting a take of “Kindness Be Conceived,” from 2013’s We the Common. It’s a slide-stomp of a take, with dueling guitars pairing up with dueling vocals—a dynamic, aggressive approach at an otherwise gentle song.

Like previous episodes of the Slab Sessions, “Kindness Be Conceived” was produced by Half Stop Sessions. You can check it out below.

Pickathon runs August 3–6 in Happy Valley, Oregon. More information is available here.
