Right when you thought you had your summer playlist finalized, NYC-born, Berklee-bred, and LA-based rapper Bryce Vine dropped said playlist’s centerpiece. The second single leading up to his as-yet-untitled debut record, “On the Ball” soars with sunny energy, catchy hooks, woofer-friendly bass, and rebellious attitude, echoing the spirit of its West Coast forebears.
Following his blockbuster performance of “Drew Barrymore” with a live orchestra in an Olympic-sized pool, Original Tracks is rolling out a Ron Peters–directed video for Vine’s latest loosie, accentuating the potential for adventure—not to mention the excessive heat—of a summer day in LA. Footage of a spirited trip to the liquor store intermingle with clips of Vine engaging an expansive festival crowd, all embellished with chromatic hues and an occasional CCTV framing.
