If you were among those fortunate enough to catch Van Williams on tour last spring, you may already know Allie Crow Buckley, an LA native with songwriting chops to match the shows’ ex-Port O’Brien headliner. Prior to hitting the road with Williams, Buckley headlined a much buzzed-about residency at LA’s Bootleg Theater. Today, Buckley is announcing her debut EP, So Romantic, which assembles six tracks she recorded with Jenny Lewis collaborators Mike Viola, Dylan Day, and Jason Boesel at Viola’s Bare Bones studio in Echo Park.

With the announcement, Buckley is debuting the lead single, “Cherry Stems,” with an ominous video channeling the track’s lonely energy. “For me, getting caught up in the romances and fantasies are inevitable in the beginnings of a relationship—illusions are so easy to cast and get lost in,” she explains. “The video depicts a girl (yours truly) whimsically dancing alone in a house surrounded by bunnies and satins, but completely alone in the fantasy—and frankly, a little deranged.”

So Romantic is out February 5, and Buckley will be returning to the Bootleg February 7 for a release show.
