Massive Attack is in full Mezzanine mode.
With the legendary UK outfit set to embark on a 20th anniversary tour in honor of the band’s seminal 1998 release, Massive Attack have shared a previously unheard Mad Professor remix from that era.
“Wire” was not included on the original Mezzanine album. Instead, it was the band’s contribution to the soundtrack for the 1997 film, Welcome to Sarajevo, starring Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei.
This Mad Professor “Leaping Dub” remix of the track has been unearthed for inclusion on the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of Mezzanine, which is set for release on January 25. Listen to it below.
Mad Professor and Massive Attack have a long history together. Most notably, the iconic dub producer remixed the group’s entire Protection album for the 1995 release No Protection.
Also included in Massive Attack’s latest rollout is Fantom Mezzanine, which they describe as “a sensory music experience” that features completely new interactive remixes of the album. Users can make and share videos and the music will adapt in real time to what’s happening. FL
