King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard were relatively quiet in 2018, which we don’t fault them for, seeing as they released five albums the previous year (by “relatively,” of course, I mean they only released four albums—all of which had technically already been released). But 2019 is shaping up to be another year which features the Gizzard prominently, as we’re only a month in and the herd of Aussies are already teasing a brand new aesthetic.

Following up on an inherent promise of new music in the form of a recent Twitter post featuring the band in-studio with Tropical Fuck Storm’s Gareth Lillard, the seven-piece has gifted us with “Cyboogie,” a kraut-inspired space disco number with a reverently retro video. Though there’s no word on a new album (or two, or three, etc.) yet, this seven-minute anthem and its B-side, “Acarine,” will have to keep us preoccupied for the time being.

“Cyboogie” is available now via ATO Records.
