A section of the “Wish I Was Here” film poster

The last time The Shins were featured in a Zach Braff film, two of their most memorable songs (“New Slang,” “Caring Is Creepy”) emerged from the soundtrack. There must be some special source of inspiration in the band’s relationship with the Garden State director because their new track for Wish I Was Here, “So Now What,” has all the elements of a classic Shins song.  You can listen to the uplifting, synth-laden track on NPR.

“So Now What” will appear on the Wish I Was Here soundtrack, out July 15. The film hits theaters on July 18.
