Kero Kero Bonito want to take you on a trip.

The UK outfit celebrate the band’s 2019 North American tour with a brand new song, “The Open Road.” The bubbly tune invokes both shoegaze legends Lush and recently-reunited Stereolab, and is well worth a listen (below).

“The Open Road” will appear as the B-side to KKB’s upcoming 7′ vinyl single for “Swimming,” the latter taken from the band’s 2018 album, Time ’n’ Place. The song is not all fun and games, though. According to the band, the tune is “about our North America tour last year, including anecdotes about the time a lorry nearly jackknifed into us in a blizzard.” The song’s lyrics also detail the group getting mugged in San Francisco.

“Swimming” is available for pre-order here. Kero Kero Bonito is also offering up some decidedly summery merchandise on their website, including beach towels and swimming goggles. It’s a whole theme, and we’re here for it.
