The band hailing from Athens, Georgia first came on the scene in 2011 with a four-song self-titled EP. Originally a solo effort by Davey Pierce (Inkwell, of Montreal) the project grew to include Nicolas “Dobby” Dobbratz (Sugar & Gold, of Montreal) and John Swint (Modern Skirts, Easter Island).

After a debut album, split 7″ single, and another EP, Yip Deceiver took a break from touring. But the band is back in the studio for their upcoming KONIEC EP, due out on April 5, a collection which promises to carry influences of punk, rock, R&B, and pop.

“‘Devotee’ is the product of countless late nights with The Gap Band, Cameo, and Steely Dan,” said Pierce. “Part roller boogie, part R&B, part dance, ‘Devotee’ kind of hangs out in its own little world. It is a love song, sure, but more so it’s about what you would give up to a part of something bigger than yourself and realizing that you can actually be improved if you are willing to take a chance on something new.” Listen to the track below.
