Alternative rock is still very much a thing. Just ask LA band Grizfolk.
The Los Angeles alt-rockers are flying high on the reveal that they’re set to return to the fold with a second album, the archly titled Rarest of Birds. The new LP kicks off the summer of Grizfolk when it drops on July 19, the same night the group will perform a special hometown release date show at the legendary Troubadour.
The album announcement arrives with the latest sounds from the forthcoming full-length: “Mercy,” a track that was “born on August 12, 2017. It’s a cry out for peace, a voice of the voiceless,” according to the band. The song’s seamless melodies rise like a prayer, begging for mercy from the heavens above. It’s a song that swings for the fences and flies right out of the park. Listen to it below.
“Listening to Rarest of Birds should feel a bit like looking through a kaleidoscope of fleeting moments…a glimpse into our yearning for truth and answers within and without,” the group shares in a press statement. “Written in some of the darkest times, it was a vehicle out of addiction and depression. It was a one-way ticket out of a personal hell, purchased by the heart and paid for with love, light, and dedication.”
The band follows the July 19 release show in Los Angeles with a West Coast tour, hitting Vancouver, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, and more. See the complete itinerary below.
