The new album from Elsa y Elmar was born from the fires of real life. “Eres Diamante is about being. I could not escape from the fact that during the process of recording this album, I saw my life crumble, and had to build it again,” reveals Elsa Carvajal, the Columbian native behind Elsa y Elmar.
“The video for the [title track] had to reflect that. How comfortable I am under my own skin, now that I embrace life and its challenges.” Of the new video, the singer explains she was “inspired by Cher’s glamour, Marina Abramović’s performances, and the nostalgia of real life. This is my favorite work so far.”
The full-length is out today, and presents the artist doubling down on the theme of finding answers after everything falls apart.
“This album talks about the process of breaking and emerging with a better sense of self… I go from dancehall tracks to old school ballads, and then acoustic tracks in which I recorded piano and vocals simultaneously,” she says. “To be honest, I love variety. I can go from Tame Impala to Selena Quintanilla in one afternoon.”
