Like an uninhibited toast at the end of the night, St. Vincent is bookending her long and fruitful 2014 with a mesmerizing new music video for “Birth in Reverse,” a song that was originally released as the lead single for her self-titled album over a year ago.
Directed by her visual collaborator Willo Perron, the video is an other-worldly trip to a landscape populated by Annie Clark’s strangely robotic dance moves, Young Frankenstein hairstyles, and intensely demonic gazes.
This latest offering comes on the heels of her first (and certainly not last) GRAMMY nomination for Best Alternative Album, and, well, this video is certainly an alternative something or other.
