Foodies, mark your calendars: June 25 has been dubbed Bourdain Day. Chefs Eric Ripert and José Andrés are behind the unofficial holiday, launching the idea with a joint social media video announcing their intentions. June 25, 2019 would have been Bourdain’s sixty-third birthday.
“On June 25, we are all going to celebrate the birthday of our dear friend and beloved Anthony Bourdain,” Ripert says in the clip, with Andrés jokingly mocking his fellow chef’s accent. Watch the clip below.

The pair are asking people to share their favorite Bourdain memories and tributes on the day using the hashtag #BourdainDay.
According to Today, the Culinary Institute of America are honoring the occasion by announcing plans to introduce a new scholarship in Bourdain’s honor. The program will support students interested in following in the chef’s footsteps with an “international culinary experience,” or semester abroad.
