The radio silence from Fuck Buttons following their 2013 LP Slow Focus has been a tough pill to swallow, but both members of the electronic drone duo seem to be keeping plenty busy. While Andrew Hung has taken an interest in film scores, his creative partner Benjamin John Power has kept his listeners appeased with consistent output from his solo project, Blanck Mass.
Today, Power announced his latest project under the moniker, Animated Violence Mild, with—what else—eight minutes of pummeling industrial electronics cosigned by Sacred Bones. From the opening screamed fade-in to its abrupt conclusion, “House vs. House” is a promising indication that Violence will be more of the same from the experimental composer.
“In this post-industrial, post-enlightenment religion of ourselves, we have manifested a serpent of consumerism which now coils back upon us,” Power cryptically shared with the announcement. “It seduces us with our own bait as we betray the better instincts of our nature and the future of our own world. I believe that many of us have willfully allowed our survival instinct to become engulfed by the snake we birthed. Animated—brought to life by humankind. Violent—insurmountable and wild beyond our control. Mild—delicious.” Cool!
Animated Violence Mild is out August 16 on Sacred Bones. You can pre-order it here.
