Who is ilo ilo? That is, indeed, the question. This LA-based, thoroughly modern electronic indie-pop music project exists in faint, blurry lines where walls marked “genre” once stood. Famous for celebrity scavenger hunts and dance floor euphoria, the outfit has casually shared a viable entry for song of the summer 2019, Generation Z edition.
“what u need” kicks off ilo ilo’s debut EP, wish i said this to you this sooner, a five-track collection that arrives with ambition and an inspired launch campaign taking the music to the streets—literally.
Yesterday, ilo ilo took a group of curious fans and followers on a five-part “scavenger hunt” around the LA Arts District. The final stop of the hunt? A secret EP and video release party in a hidden Downtown warehouse.
