Porcupine in a cage

The Replacements have kinda-sorta released new material here and there in the lead-up to and following their official reunion in 2012 (including a 2013 benefit EP for their former guitarist Slim Dunlap), and have hinted at a really real new record…at some point…one day…

This might not exactly be that, but a new Replacements song has emerged and, in typical ‘Mats style, it’s kinda kooky and kinda awesome, with the overall suggestion they might be fucking with us all. Titled “Poke Me in My Cage” and accompanied by a very adorable (and prickly) porcupine in a cage, the song is downloadable, nearly a half-hour long, and features a lot of guitar noodlin’ and frenetic drumming. Tommy Stinson and Paul Westerberg are credited songwriters on the track, which was recorded in late October.

Put it on with Fireplace For Your Home and pour a large glass of whiskey.
