We’ve been waiting three years for Bat for Lashes’ follow-up to her last LP, The Bride, and each single from the forthcoming Lost Girls teases new developments in the London-born songwriter’s already-broad range of influences.

Today, the artist born Natasha Khan is sharing a third preview of the record in the form of “The Hunger,” a five-minute epic borrowing as much from Hounds-era Kate Bush as it does from recent bedroom pop hypnagogia and the dark synth pop tradition of groups like Austra.

With a particularly dramatic video of the singer among her Lost Girls in an otherworldly desert setting, the tribal beat and organ-like synths elicit an audio-visual experience serving as an enticing preview of what else Girls may have in store.

Lost Girls is out September 6 via AWAL Recordings. You can pre-order it here.
