Guitarist pair Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) just released the lineup for their second annual Above Ground benefit concert, which is set for September 16 at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The event is intended to raise both awareness and funds for mental health, with profits donated to MusiCares.
Guests this year include host and actor Joe Manganiello, plus musicians like Billy Idol, Perry Farrell and Etty Lau Farrell (Kind Heaven Orchestra), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Steve Stevens, Juliette Lewis, Steve Vai, Billy Duffy (The Cult), Wayne Kramer (MC5), and Mike Garson (keyboardist for David Bowie). More will be announced soon.
Performances are intended to honor David Bowie’s 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, plus The Stooges’ self-titled debut, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this month and is responsible for introducing the world to the force known as Iggy Pop. Between performances, there will be speeches from mental health field professionals and art items for auction, live graffiti from street artists, and information booths.
Tickets are on sale here. Watch the event trailer below.
