Rap rock supergroup Prophets of Rage—including members Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real, and DJ Lord—have a new track and video for “Pop Goes the Weapon,” a righteously angry rap tune with lyrics about America’s horrific gun violence epidemic.

The video pulls no punches, displaying the endless massacre-centered headlines, mug shots of the murderers, and a comprehensive list of 2019’s mass shootings with dates, locations, and number of people killed and injured in each. The visual concludes with four mass shootings that have all happened within the last thirty days (in Gilroy, CA, El Paso, TX, Dayton, OH, and Odessa, TX).

Of the track, Tom Morello shared: “Guns are both the subject of religious worship AND huge profits in the United States. Combined with emboldened white nationalism, the recent epidemic of massacres is little surprise. ‘Pop Goes the Weapon’ channels our ‘thoughts & prayers’ through Marshall stacks & microphones.”

The group recently announced two hometown shows in Los Angeles, September 11 and 12 at The Mayan (now sold out). They’re currently at work on a follow-up to their self-titled debut from 2017. Watch the video below.
