UPDATED 9/9: Supergrass have announced their U.S./UK tour dates for fall 2019/spring 2020, as well as a January 24 release date for their career-spanning box set collection, Supergrass: The Strange Ones 1994–2008, which will contain their six original albums and over six hours of previously unreleased material. You can hear a cover of The Police’s “Next to You” from the collection here. Tour dates can be found at the bottom of the post.

“We are young, we run green…”

Supergrass brought a singular combination of humor, irony, and social observation to the Brit-pop universe of the 1990s. With hits including the above-quoted “Alright” (immortalized in the movie Clueless), the trio led by singer Gaz Coombes kept the party going into 2008 with the release of their final album, Diamond Hoo Ha.

Now, they’re getting the band back together in recognition of twenty-five years since the release of their debut full-length, I Should Coco, in 1995.

Brooklyn Vegan reports that Supergrass kicked off the reunion campaign with a surprise headlining gig at this year’s Pilton Party, an annual all-day event hosted by Glastonbury impresario Michael Eavis for residents and festival workers. It was the band’s first show in nine years. See photos and video from the set below.
