Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand? Taylor Swift has released the details of her upcoming tour for new album Lover, and they’re a bit unorthodox.
“The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, +SUMMER,” Swift shared in a characteristically flowery message via social media. “I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and play festivals. Where we didn’t have festivals, we made some. Introducing, Lover Fest East + West!”
Of course, this declaration of SUMMER doesn’t explain why “Cruel Summer” wasn’t a lead single. Maybe she’ll right her wrongs by letting it open up the tour.
These “festivals” include two multi-date shows: Lover Fest West and East. Thus far they’re her only concerts scheduled in America for 2020, though additional dates have been teased. Lover Fest West is July 25 and July 26 at Los Angeles’ NFL venue SoFi Stadium, where Swift will be the first woman in history to open an NFL stadium. Lover Fest East is at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on July 31 and August 1.

Some of the event art advertises “Taylor Swift and Friends,” so stans on Twitter are freaking out over whom the special guests might be. Probably not Kanye West, but I’d say Katy Perry is a distinct possibility. Maybe Joe Alwyn will watch coyly from the sidelines.
As always, Taylor honors her most devoted fans with easier ticket access. Existing TS Tix Verified Fans can RSVP today for presale access, and they will have premature access to ticket purchases ahead of the general public on October 14. Registration for new Verified Fans opens this Thursday, September 19 at 4 p.m. ET. And because she’s ever the consummate capitalist, TS Capital One cardholders will get priority access to tickets on October 15 and 16. Public tickets go on sale starting October 17.
