Velvet Negroni has something to say in the song “ONE ONE,” taken from his recent debut album, Neon Brown. The album was released by 4AD, the legendary label built on such musical pioneers as Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, and A.R. Kane. The moody, soulful sound of Velvet Negroni carries that same sonic torch into new and exciting territories.
Born Jeremy Guzman, an adopted black kid with white parents in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Negroni wants to impart a profound message on those experiencing his art.
“‘ONE ONE’ is about thinking of life as a lottery and feeling jaded because of it,” he says of the visual that debuts here. “The video is a vibe of, ‘this party is happening one way or the other so are u gonna be present for it?'”
The clip captures that same hopeful-in-the-face-of-chaos energy with an after hours beach party that lights up the night. See VN’s upcoming tour dates below.
