Los Angeles is poised to be the center of the NBA universe this season, as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers face formidable competition from reigning NBA champ Kawhi Leonard and his new squad, the Clippers.
While Clippers owner Steve Ballmer continues to do everything in his power to push his team toward their first NBA Finals, a new collaboration finds the squad making moves in the world of music.
Today, the Clippers revealed a partnership with singer and king of hip-hop hooks, Ty Dolla $ign, when LA Times sports columnist Arash Markazi announced the pairing via Twitter. The union kicks off with the artist performing his song “Hottest in the City” on behalf of the Clippers at the season-opening game against the Lakers October 22. There will also be a line of co-branded Ty Dolla X Clippers merchandise. See the tweet below.

“LA is my home & a huge part of who I am. It influences everything I do; from my style to my music to the cars I drive, so to partner with the Clippers for opening night is huge,” Ty Dolla $ign said in a press statement. “My fourteen-year old daughter is one of the best basketball players I know, so to have her be there with me is going to be extra special. It’s a big moment for LA. The LA Clippers vs the Los Angeles Lakers and Dolla $ign, the king of LA. What more do you need? Shout out to the Clippers for the honor. It’s going to be a fun night.”
