Mike Patton in Baseball Furies Trailer

When Mike Patton says “baseball is pretty fucking cool,” it’s pretty hard to refute the lead singer of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. Such is the case in the first trailer for Baseball Furies, a new documentary that explores the intersection of baseball and rock and roll. Patton is just one of the many luminaries from both worlds who shows up to talk about how much they love the game.

The film is named after the fictitious uniform-clad and makeup-wearing New York street gang The Baseball Furies in the classic 1979 action film, The Warriors. It’s an apt moniker, as the doc’s frank and irreverent tone makes it ideal for hazy midnight screenings.

Steve Albini (Big Black, Shellac), Tanya Donnelly and Gail Greenwood (Belly), Craig Finn and Galen Polivka (The Hold Steady), Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover (The Melvins), and Ken Casey (Dropkick Murphys) are more of the rockers who pop up to talk baseball in the trailer. Bernie Williams, Jake Peavy, and Ryan Dempster are among the major leaguers who appear in the clip, as well as sportscasters Petter Gammons and Len Kasper. Watch it below.

The film is still a work in progress, and supporters can help the movie get made here. Follow the doc on Instagram for more information.
