The short-lived 2000s project of Nate Ruess and Sam Means only ever released two albums, but The Format became legends in their era of emo/pop-punk. In 2007, the band released their Live At the Mayan Theatre concert DVD, and then went on a hiatus shortly following its release in 2008. Ruess’ other band, fun., started taking off—and he and Sam haven’t revisited The Format since. Until now! They’re coming back together for a limited run of shows in NYC, Chicago, and Phoenix.

Last night, there was a viewing party for Live At The Mayan Theatre in Phoenix, AZ—and the band surprised fans by showing up for a performance. Today, Live At The Mayan is available on all streaming/VOD platforms, and a spring tour has been announced. See dates below.

Tickets go on sale Friday, February 7 at 12 p.m. venue local time. There will be a presale on Wednesday for all shows via The Format web store and on “traditional” ticketing sites (code: FORMAT) beginning at 12 p.m.
