It’s been nearly ten years since Eric Wareheim directed one of the most bizarre music videos of the twenty-first century, prominently featuring Twin Peaks’ Leland Palmer (Ray Wise) lip-syncing Victoria Legrand’s raspy alto on the Beach House track “Wishes.” It was more than a little Lynchian seeing the actor, twenty years older, performing in some sort of bizarro high school talent show, though it felt like a logical career step following his chilling turn on the ABC show.

In this same surrealist universe, yesterday Grouplove shared a video for their new single, “Youth,” which stars Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie) in yet another unexplained circumstance. After a series of eerie run-ins with members of the band at a dollar store, Zabriskie winds up in a mysterious gilded room behind glass as she watches the youngsters dance. Ending in something of an analogue to Paris, Texas, the regal visual matches the song’s pristine production, aided by Healer producer Dave Sitek.

Watch the video below, and make sure to catch the band on their Healer tour, kicking off March 18. The band is proudly partnering with The Ally Coalition, which works to support at-risk LGBTQ youth, and HeadCount, which promotes participation in democracy through music, culture, and digital media.
