HAIM launched the band’s intimate deli tour in New York City last night, serving up a special musical treat in the form of a Britney Spears cover. Bassist Este Haim put down her instrument to grab the microphone and lead a spot-on version of Spears’ 2001 hit single, “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet a Woman.” The performance followed an impassioned intro from Este, a longtime fan of the pop princess. Sarge’s Deli was the location of the first stop on the band’s five city tour, which is limited to friends, family, and select fans chosen through an online registration. Tonight, HAIM will post up at a deli in Washington, D.C. They’re taking Friday off, but will be back at it on Saturday night when they perform at a deli in Chicago, exact location to be announced.
