Maya Hawke, a.k.a. queer icon Robin Buckley on Stranger Things, has joined the ranks of ST actors with music careers and announced her debut album. Blush is out June 19 via Mom + Pop. The record’s first single and video is premiering today.
“By Myself” was directed by Amanda Kramer, and features a disembodied Hawke floating through the heavens, clad alternatingly in a cowboy hat, angel wings, and royal crown.
The music on Blush was written by Jesse Harris, and Maya Hawke is responsible for all lyrics. “This album happened accidentally,” Hawke said in a statement. “From my point of view, Blush is a collection of secret messages, hidden communications with the people in my life.”
On Instagram, Hawke acknowledged the album’s announcement during troubling times of social quarantine, adding, “I hope it can serve as a bit of company in these solitary times.”
Hawke is donating a portion of Blush merch proceeds to the Food Bank for New York City. Watch the “By Myself” visual below.
