Rock fans’ summer reading list just got a whole lot cooler thanks to Trouser Press magazine, which has just shared digitized versions of the mag’s entire run online. Launched in 1974 by Ira Robbins, Karen Rose, and Dave Schulps, Trouser Press covered the more progressive end of rock throughout its run, featuring the likes of Devo, Ric Ocasek, and The Jam next to more mainstream artist including Led Zeppelin.
TP is known by many music historians and journalists for launching the the highly influential Trouser Press Record Guide, which has been available digitally since 2002. After a revamp of the website, the mag is now sharing new articles in addition to the digitized version of their entire run.
“A couple of years ago, I began a project to scan one complete issue of Trouser Press magazine each week and post it to a Facebook page,” Robbins shared on their website. “I was glad to finally bring all that great old journalism back into circulation, but the presentation left a lot to be desired. So that was one thing I wanted a redeveloped TP site for. I also had a hankering to make it an online music magazine…And so here we are. Glad you could stick around.”
