Boots Riley’s singular take on the theater of the absurd is set to get even more existential. The rapper and director has revealed details of I’m a Virgo, a new series set in the Bay Area with one pretty random but vital plot point.

“I have a show about a 13-ft tall Black man who lives in Oakland. It’s called I’m A Virgo,” Riley shared on social media today of his new series, which stars Jharrel Jerome who you may recognize from Moonlight or When They See Us. “I’m doing this w Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res. We haven’t decided on the network/streamer. It’ll be dark, absurd, hilarious, and important.”

I’m a Virgo is Riley’s follow-up to the 2018 big-screen dark comedy Sorry to Bother You, which starred Lakeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson. The show’s announcement arrives with a promo poster by Colin Laurel.
