Tenacious D’s Post Apocalypto universe has been floating around for a few years now, being introduced back in 2018 with a studio album and its ensuing tour. Last year, Jack Black and Kyle Gass connected with ex-Pittsburgh Post-Gazette cartoonist Rob Rogers—who was very publicly laid off because of his Trump-skewering panels—to discuss the political weight of cartoons with us, and now, finally, the last piece of the puzzle arrives this fall. The graphic novel Post Apocalypto arrives September 15, and despite the pandemic, there will be a (virtual) book signing.
Announced last Saturday and commencing all week, the already sold-out event will include stops in New York City (c/o McNally Jackson), San Francisco (The Booksmith), and Los Angeles (The Last Bookstore)—in addition to last night’s Portland stop (Floating World Comics)—with the staff of each abetting bookstore hosting the pair over Zoom. In case no future dates are announced, you’ll have to settle for a pre-order of the book, which you can find here.
