Just when you thought Beck couldn’t get any more spaced-out, the songwriter went ahead and dropped a project with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The “visual album experience” was revealed earlier today, and it takes Beck’s recent synthpop LP Hyperspace into outer space, pairing each track with interstellar visuals curated by artificial intelligence.

“How would artificial intelligence imagine our universe?” is the question OSK, the group behind the A.I. used in the project entitled “Hyperspace: A.I. Exploration,” aimed to answer with the piece, using imagery that was all publicly available before the visual experience was released.  “I think each song is kind of a different way that different people ‘hyperspace’—we escape from the reality that we’re all dealing with,” Beck added in a press statement. Learn more about the project here.

With the new visuals, Beck also announced a new limited edition vinyl for Hyperspace, which will be available in December, and which promises unreleased tracks and mixes, as well as more NASA-sourced imagery. More on that here.
