Robert Toher—formerly of now-defunct groups ERAAS and Apse—is back with new music via his cryptic electronic project Public Memory. He announced a new album Ripped Apparition due in November, and the lead single “Epigone” is premiering here today.

Themes of dreams, nightmares, and an inability to separate one from another permeate the record, as they do Toher’s prior projects. This track is a meditative synthwave flash that lingers in between those two states of consciousness; it embodies its own dreary, sort of mythological world. The vocals are haunting and ghostly as they guide us through the darkness. “This song is essentially a salvo from my current self to my younger self,” he shares.

Ripped Apparition arrives November 20 on Felte, and it’s available for pre-order now. Listen to “Epigone” below.
