M.I.A. has dropped another surprise single, and for a track arriving in early September, it has Song of the Summer written all over it. The Sri Lankan rapper/vocalist has shared “CTRL” on her OHMNI.com website as a reflection of where we are in this moment.

“A song for 2020. This is not a song from M.I.A.’s upcoming highly anticipated IIIIIIth LP,” the singer revealed on social media with a snippet of the new music. “It was made for the HERE + NOW, TODAY.” The track rumbles with a nervous street-riot energy as the artist quotes Beth Ditto and Gossip’s single, “Standing in the Way of Control.” See the social media post below.

“CTRL” follows M.I.A.’s previously most recent tune, “OHMNI 202091,” which landed back in March via her Patreon account. Listen to the full version of “CTRL” here.
