Draag have released a cover of Deerhunter’s 2008 track “Nothing Ever Happened” from their forthcoming Covers EP. Clocking in at a little over five and a half minutes, the song is a vibrant, mesmerizing brand of stoner shoegaze.
“This cover came as a request (for something on Microcastle, for nostalgic reasons) through Twitter recommendations when we warned we would do Incubus covers,” the band shares. “Quarantine brought a rush of nostalgia for the music that raised us—feel-good nu-metal—when indie rock dominated. Deerhunter embraces really harsh, jagged-edge soundscapes, but underneath it all are beautiful blissful melodies.”
The EP also features covers of Vinyl Williams, Throbbing Gristle, Pinback, Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges, and Goon. Since they couldn’t go on the road for a tour, the band stayed productive through making this EP.
Covers is out October 9. Listen to Draag’s rendition of “Nothing Ever Happened” below.
