Chaos Chaos, the synth-pop project of sisters Asya and Chloe Saavedra, have released a new single, “Need You,” featuring alt-pop songwriter Madge. On October 2, another Bandcamp Friday, all proceeds will be donated to the Loveland Foundation, which supports communities of color.
“I wanted to make an angsty song with autoharp and distorted 808 drums,” Chloe says of the song. “I made the song in an evening quarantined and drinking a lot of wine. My boyfriend and I had recently been living together and I had struggled a lot with singing and recording while he was in the house, it just made me feel like someone was listening over my shoulder, so at the time I had to drink enough wine to let loose and record.
“I had been having fun with a quarantine collab working with my friend Kevin Hickey (Zhone),” she continues. “I sent the song to him and explained the vibe I was going for production-wise and he did some magic. He later connected me with Madge to have them do a verse on the song and they sent back this fucking incredible piece of art. Asya added Enya-like harmonies and ethereal vocals throughout the song to add vibiness and that was that! Just felt like the collab worked quickly and smoothly with all my friends and I’m super stoked about it. I like the idea of imagining each person’s vocal part on a song like a superhero personality and really playing that up. I thought making each of us a Power Puff on the cover would be a sick way to represent that.”
The duo also just recently announced a Loveland-benefitting virtual concert and comedy live stream called Support Black Womxn. Taking place this Wednesday, September 30, it will feature performances from Reggie Watts, Fred Armisen, Cautious Clay, No Vacation, and more.
