We haven’t heard from the dream pop duo Dollshot since early 2019, but the project of Noah K and Rosie K plans on returning in 2021 for a new album entitled Some of Them Are Killers which, based on the first single, sees the pair experimenting with dark synthpop sounds reminiscent of a group like Ladytron, or anything from the Drive soundtrack. To accentuate this dark turn, the band enlisted director Pablo Delcan to bring their new sound to life, appropriately setting the tune to an array of neons contrasting with a black backdrop.

“Working with Pablo on a music video is a bit like sharing a mind,” the band shares of the visual. “He knows the story we want to tell and captures it dead on. It’s a phantasmic digital tango in a house of mirrors, where the mouse turns out to be the cat.”

“When we decided to create this video, we were all locked inside our houses for months in the early days of the pandemic,” Delcan notes. “We decided to design computer-generated avatars of Noah and Rosie to match with live footage they shot in their apartment. Part of this was problem solving. But it then became an abstraction on reality—to the point that it becomes hard to tell who is real and who isn’t.”

Watch the clip below, and anticipate more from the duo in the near future.
