Elizabeth Moen just moved in with her great aunt, who’s a therapist. This can explain the title of her forthcoming EP Creature of Habit, which, within those three words, explores what it means to be human, to have routines, and to enjoy conforming to patterns in life. The Iowa-native singer/songwriter has always been thoughtful, using music as a tool for introspection and rumination. This occurs on her latest single, even though it’s called “Eating Chips”—Moen can find meaning in just about anything.

“Learning more about production and mixing this year offered me a new form of escapism,” Moen shares. “I wanted this song to sound like a Western in space, and like a full band comes into the saloon and jams for a bit. I miss my bandmates and friends, and this was just a way to pretend I’m playing music with them on Mars and not dancing alone in the middle of nowhere.”

Creature of Habit is out December 11. Watch the video for “Eating Chips” below.
