LA Phil is now six weeks into their SOUND/STAGE digital programming, and this week’s episode, launching tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. PST, will feature music from jazz saxophonist and Dinner Party attendee Kamasi Washington. Along with a sixteen-piece orchestra, Washington will be performing his original score for the recent Netflix-produced Michelle Obama documentary Becoming, based on her memoir of the same name. In a convo with the artist also included in the programming, he’ll discuss the Obamas’ Spotify playlist as an inspiration for writing the music. The episode also includes a performance from genre-blurring bandleader and producer Louie Vega.
