Yesterday marked one month since mxmtoon released dusk, her second EP of the year and a yang to the yin of April’s dawn EP. Boasting production from tUnE-yArDs’ Merrill Garbus, a guest verse from Carly Rae Jepsen, and a song entitled “bon iver,” the release sees Maia shifting into collaboration mode while leaning into the influence of artists who’ve inspired her mxmtoon project.
Jumping back a lifetime ago to the spring of 2020, though, Maia gave us a solo uke performance of her dawn EP track “almost home” from atop a rock in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park on an appropriately overcast day. You can watch her performance—as well as a kid playing soccer behind her—below.
