Due to long-foreseen circumstances, Stephen Colbert uprooted his nightly Late Show from its home on CBS last night for the special Showtime broadcast Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand: Building Back America Great Again Better 2020 as his network home kept us up to date on election coverage. As a special part of this already-special program, Colbert welcomed the politically active Arcade Fire as his musical guests, where they surprised us with a brand new track fit for the moment. 

The new tune, “Generation A,” is a beacon of hope this week amid plenty of doom-scrolling, doom-pacing, doom-eating, and doom-streaming. “With a hopeful message to the youths,” as Colbert notes, the upbeat single is exactly what we need right now. Hear it below.
