This morning we received some hopeful news about a potential COVID vaccine, which, paired with a new President-elect who will presumably actually do something about the virus, certainly bodes well for a better 2021. One downside to this, though, is the impending cancellation of some of the pandemic-necessitated programming we’ve come to rely upon, such as the Swizz Beatz and Timbaland–launched Verzuz series, which sees iconic rappers pitted against each other in a rap battle over Instagram Live.

Last Friday, though, Beatz confirmed that the series—coming up on its second season—would ideally outlast the virus. “It’s something for the culture, permanently,” he shared, as XXL notes. “That’s what I want people to understand—we got so many lined up, we ain’t even start yet.” The topic arose when he accidentally alluded to a future episode pairing OutKast with A Tribe Called Quest: “I wasn’t even supposed to say that. I might have just fucked that all up.”

Season 2 of the series kicks off November 19 with T.I. and Jeezy—this one, however, is public information.
