A few weeks ago, Joe Wong blessed us with a visually stimulating, Fred Armisen–directed music video for “Nite Creatures,” the title track from his recently released debut LP. While it doesn’t quite match the splendor of the psychedelic mansion captured in that visual, the imagery of Wong performing the same track with a five-piece orchestra in his backyard at dusk over the sound of cicadas is nearly as enchanting.

For the latest episode of “Neighborhoods,” we checked in with the singer/songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist at his home in Pasadena, where he sang the tune over instrumentation provided by a keyboardist and a string section (everyone was masked and socially distanced). Fortunately, there were no nite creatures present to disrupt the production. Watch the vid below.
