God bless Dave Grohl. When he’s not out encouraging the next generation of rock stars, the Foo Fighters frontman is doing what he can to help feed the undocumented workers that populate much of the back-of-house staff at restaurants all throughout Southern California. It’s an especially poignant issue now that Los Angeles County government has voted to again shut down outdoor dining in wake of spiking COVID-19 cases.
Grohl and the whole Foo Fighters crew have collaborated with popular Sherman Oaks, CA restaurant Casa Vega to create a special holiday to-go menu that’s packed with a signature taco and a selection of potent cocktails. The Foo Fighters Taco is a classic Tex-Mex affair: homemade flour tortilla, smoked brisket, Mexican Cole Slaw, pickled red onion, and cilantro. Among the drinks included are an homage to A Christmas Story with the “Red Ryder” and a Home Alone wink with “Keep the Change. Ya Filthy Animal.” We’d be remiss not to mention the Hanukkah-themed libation, “Dreidel I Shall Play.” See the whole menu here.
All proceeds from the collaborative menu are earmarked for the non-profit No Us Without You, which works directly with local Southern California undocumented workers. For fans eager to support the cause but unable to get to Sherman Oaks, the Foos and Casa Vega have created a collaborative t-shirt available online. Money from the shirts goes directly to No Us Without You. And with this killer graphic of Dave Grohl and a cool rocking taco just kicking it on the front, it’s a spiffy way to support a worthy cause.
