We’ve reached the point in quarantine where musicians’ longing to get back out on the road to tour has evolved from wistful tweets to the emotional lyrical backbone of new recordings. Such is the case with the new tune from The Brother Brothers (born the Moss brothers), which will serve as the first single from their forthcoming album Calla Lily. The lighthearted track feels hopeful for a return to live music in the near-future, with the Paul Simon–like lead vocals pairing with crisp electric guitar to paint a vivid picture of being serenaded in an intimate venue.
”There’s no denying that life in motion can leave a person lonesome or aimless, but so can sitting still,” David Moss shares. “The same part of our beings that gets homesick aches for life on the road. This song’s an exploration of that duality—a celebration and a lamentation in one.”
The single arrives with footage of the brothers hitting the road and ultimately playing the song to a small crowd of pleased cartoon characters. Watch the delightful-ass video below, and expect Calla Lily to arrive April 16 via Compass Records.
