While there are a lot of shiny and exciting things going on in the brief trailer for Magic Mike XXL, let’s just get right down to the greatest part—the excellent soundtracking. Fans of the first film will instantly recognize the quintessentially ’90s funky beat of Ginuwine’s “Pony,” and know that Mike Lane (Channing Tatum) is about to get down. What else do you really need to know at this point?
The highly anticipated sequel of 2012’s mega-hit Magic Mike features the same general cast of characters—Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, and Adam Rodriguez just to name a few—but will be missing some key players from the first film including director Steven Soderbergh, Alex Pettyfer, and Matthew McConaughey (who has been rumored to make a small cameo). Magic Mike XXL follows the Xquisite boys on a road trip to Myrtle Beach to compete in a stripping convention. While that’s all well and good, I for one hope that we find out about how Mike’s custom furniture business is doing in this still-struggling economy.
