While perhaps not the first person we’re apt to think of when reporting new Sherlock news, it’s hard not to eagerly look forward to Sir Ian taking on the deerstalker and pipe.

In director Bill Condon‘s (Gods and MonstersKinsey) upcoming film Mr. Holmes, McKellen plays the renowned detective at age ninety-three, struggling with dementia as he labors to solve his final case with the help of a young protege (Milo Parker). Laura Linney also stars

McKellen tweeted a preview clip of the upcoming film yesterday, which you can also watch via YouTube below.

According to IMDb, Mr. Holmes will premiere at this year’s Berlin Film Festival this weekend and will screen in theaters this summer.
