What if I told you that you could experience Eve 6, Julia Holter, Kimya Dawson, Palberta, Ted Leo, and Thursday at an online festival where all proceeds go toward Union of Musicians and Allied Workers (UMAW)? Would you believe me? Well that’s the truth, and it’s called the Galactic Federation of Musicians and Allied Workers, and it’s happening this April. Still confused? Well, the organizers have given a full rundown of how to attend the Minecraft event on their site.
Last November, artist and performer B. Dolan successfully held a similar event called #NetherRap. It was watched by “over 4,000 people and attended in-game by over 300, raising over $6k for artists who’d been unable to tour during the pandemic.” The 12+ hour stream will take place on April 9 and 10, featuring over twenty bands. Other acts include Mary Lattimore, Xenia Rubinos, Jackie Mendoza, Cola Boyy, Nailah Hunter, and Backxwash.
