Earlier this month, Australian musician Tkay Maidza released one of her best tracks yet. Following her 2020 album Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2, the gooey, bass-heavy “Syrup” is part of a string of singles—including her wonderful collab with Georgia rapper Yung Baby Tate that was an ode to all the great Kims of our time.

Now, we get the visual for “Syrup,” and it’s weird, wild, and as hot as can be! Maidza has been a bit of a hidden gem for a few years, only starting to get the notoriety she deserves. The same goes for her surreal, sometimes eerie visuals. In “Syrup,” which was produced by Dan Farber, she rides around with her badass crew, channeling both Missy Elliott and David Bowie. In other scenes, we see her with some unusual body prosthetics—ethereal, water nymph vibes.
