Last year, Samia released her debut album The Baby. She then released The Baby Reimagined, which featured new takes on her songs from friends including Bartees Strange, Anjimile, Palehound, and The Districts. Today, she returns with another sentimental track with a saw-toothed edge called “Show Up,” along with the news of a new EP Scout that’s out July 23.

“Nothing could stop my ass from showing up / To sing another song for the people I love,” she declares during the song’s momentous chorus. “Show Up” begins as a clear-eyed ballad that gets roughed up in the chorus with fuzzy guitars before becoming a sublime blur. Samia gave some insight on the forthcoming release: “It feels like a part two—It’s The Baby‘s slightly older sister letting her know that everything is gonna be alright.”

Watch the Joey Brodnax–directed video for “Show Up,” which finds Samia singing her soul out in front of projected images of some pals and loved ones.
