Chicago rapper CupcakKe has been one of the most exciting things to happen to rap in a while. Since 2018’s Eden, she’s been dropping single after single. Her latest release “Huhhhhh” might be her most vicous yet.
Over a Fanton-produced beat, CupcakKe throws knives at her current competition and haters. “Bitch get beat like an instrumental,” she seethes. “Female rap so boring right now / No I can’t even cap, throw these hoes in the trash,” she criticizes. “The only bar that they ever told / Is that the bar is too low,” she clarifies. For years, CupcakKe was praised as the need-to-know sexpositive rapper, which is still one of her greatest strengths. But “Huhhhhh” demonstrates that CupcakKe isn’t here to hold back anymore. She’s coming for the jugular.
